Each person has their “comfort food.” Mine – a plain grilled cheese sandwich – with two slices of American cheese on thick sliced Texas Toast or wheat bread generously buttered on the outside. I’ve had it with any number of variations, Miracle Whip instead of butter on the outside, a variety of breads, any one or more of a number of cheeses (Havarti is excellent on sourdough bread), or other things (tomatoes, pesto, cilantro, etc. added) but my favorite is just plain. When I was a kid, I would gently dip the end of the sandwich in ketchup, BBQ sauce or ranch dressing. Odd, considering it’s the only time I ever ate ketchup. What’s yours?
