KFC Double Down Chicken Sandwich

I managed to get a capture of the new KFC Double Down Chicken Sandwich which has gotten a lot of recent publicity . It has no bun but relies on two pieces of fried chicken which were very big . It has two slices of Monterey Jack and Pepper Jack cheese , two pieces of bacon and a shot of the Colonel’s special secret sauce . Info :To steal a phrase from a fellow fast-food chain, KFC is thinking outside the bun.The chicken chain rolls out its Double Down sandwich this weekend — although some might question whether it really is a sandwich. It consists of two white meat chicken breast fillets with a filling of bacon, Monterey Jack and pepper jack cheese with Colonel’s Sauce (a spicy mayonnaise). The company announced the rollout on its Web site with a ticker counting down the minutes until the national release. The sandwich already has been a topic of late-night television monologues as well as postings on Internet message boards, some of which have contended the item was a hoax.“It was extremely popular in test. Obviously it’s a unique sandwich,” KFC spokesman Rick Maynard said.“For your real chicken sandwich lover, you no longer have to go to a burger place for a (not as tasty) chicken sandwich. This is so meaty, there is no room for the bun,” Maynard said. The latter quip will serve as the catchphrase in an upcoming national ad campaign to announce the Double Down.Pricing will be determined in individual markets, but Maynard said he expects the Double Down to sell “in the $5 range.”The Double Down comes either grilled or fried with KFC’s Original Recipe. The fried version has 540 calories, 32 grams of fat and 1,380 milligrams of sodium. The grilled version has 460 calories, 23 grams of fat and 1,430 milligrams of sodium.Current government guidelines recommend less than 2,300 mg of sodium per day for people over age 2. Most Americans consume about 3,500 milligrams daily. An entire meal should contain no more than 600 milligrams. Acceptable fat is about 65 grams daily on a 2,000 calorie diet.

Chicken with Apple Cider Sauce

I ate a lot of junkfood last weekend, so I wanted to cook something lighter and healthier this week. I decided to try this Chicken with Apple Cider Sauce. It was good, not great – but it was extremely fast and easy (which counts for a lot when it comes to weeknight cooking). The recipe got great reviews, but I guess I find boneless, skinless chicken breasts kind of boring to start with. And unfortunately, the cider sauce just wasn’t exciting enough to make up for the mundane chicken.Served with a mix of green and wax beans and carrots and rice pilaf.Get the recipe: RECIPE

Bragging Rights: Food Network

This is a turkey shot that I worked VERY hard at putting together. I did both the styling and the photography. WHEW!If you watch “Ham on the Street” on Food Network (Wednesday nights… good show very entertaining), watch closely and you will see right before the title rolls down on the screen this particular turkey on your TV.Woooot!**Side Note: For those who think that all food stylist use bizarro tricks to get their food to look great, not all of us food stylists do that. This is not a product of using tricks, artificial or inedible ingredients. I do take pride in the fact that everything I style can be eaten right off the set (and often is). 100% natural food and food styling. Food is beautiful enough on its own without mucking it up with spray paint and other nasty garbage. This image is Copyright Protected and may not be used for any reason without express written permission.© Kelly Cline All Rights Reserved.www.kclinephotography.com
Project 365 2010, Day 21 Cereal for Dinner

As a food blogger, I am almost embarrassed to admit this, but I love cereal and I love having cereal for dinner! Nick had a guys night out, so tonight was cereal for dinner night. Extra special treat because I had leftover fruit loops from a snack mix thing for Scout’s, which I rarely buy!
Baby Hearts

I shop at an Indian food store called Patel Bros. located in Decatur off of Church St. I always buy cookies and snacks because of the packaging. I purchased these baby hearts because the packaging said “More Hearts in Little Hearts” and I thought mmm good organ meat in cookies.*just kidding*They were a little bland. I think they are health food. It is made with whole wheat flour and buffalo milk.Tasty.

15 meatballs at IKEA

More food and drinkThe big size portion at IKEA’s restaurant. This is kind of a cheap quality version. But still not too bad. No, not at all. Fifteen(!) meatballs with brown light creamy sauce, lingonberry jam, boiled potatoes (I changed it to boiled vegetables for the day). A little cup of green pea salad and a small glass of beer. And coffe with ’second cup’ included. That’s cheaper and better then McDonalds…Cost: 59 SEK (about 7.50 USD)View Small On BlackView Large On BlackThe real traditional style in Sweden is to have homemade boiled mashed (and whipped) potaoes (made with milk and butter, spiced with salt, white pepper and some nutmeg), quite heavy creamy sauce and good quality Swedish lingonberry jam and maybe salty pickeled small cucumbers…and of course “mumy’s meatballs”, made out of minced beef meat!!
No parsley, no dill…no sallad at all! That is the traditional way!And on top of the heap of the hot mashed potatoe you can finnish up by putting a quite big piece of butter! When the butter melts ”on top of the mountain” you take your knife and make like ’ploughed furrows’ from ”the lake of butter” down to the plate surface and let it mix a little with the creamy sauce…Yes, this is how I did it as a child — and still today do it from time to time!
A glass of ice cold milk goes well with this dish — even though it is not so healhty. Beer or water is also good. Maybe a lightly sweetened lingonberry drink. And after two portions of meatballs and mashed potatoes…you put yourself…lying down on the sofa! Aaaah…
There is an “IKEA Lovers Pool” on Flickr! Here is where I sat and ate the meatballs together with a Finnish blond.Click here if you want to see more IKEA photos from a Flickr colleague of mine.Extra: Table etiquette around the world!_
