More food and drinkThe big size portion at IKEA’s restaurant. This is kind of a cheap quality version. But still not too bad. No, not at all. Fifteen(!) meatballs with brown light creamy sauce, lingonberry jam, boiled potatoes (I changed it to boiled vegetables for the day). A little cup of green pea salad and a small glass of beer. And coffe with ’second cup’ included. That’s cheaper and better then McDonalds…Cost: 59 SEK (about 7.50 USD)View Small On BlackView Large On BlackThe real traditional style in Sweden is to have homemade boiled mashed (and whipped) potaoes (made with milk and butter, spiced with salt, white pepper and some nutmeg), quite heavy creamy sauce and good quality Swedish lingonberry jam and maybe salty pickeled small cucumbers…and of course “mumy’s meatballs”, made out of minced beef meat!! :-) No parsley, no dill…no sallad at all! That is the traditional way!And on top of the heap of the hot mashed potatoe you can finnish up by putting a quite big piece of butter! When the butter melts ”on top of the mountain” you take your knife and make like ’ploughed furrows’ from ”the lake of butter” down to the plate surface and let it mix a little with the creamy sauce…Yes, this is how I did it as a child — and still today do it from time to time! ;-) A glass of ice cold milk goes well with this dish — even though it is not so healhty. Beer or water is also good. Maybe a lightly sweetened lingonberry drink. And after two portions of meatballs and mashed potatoes…you put yourself…lying down on the sofa! Aaaah… :-) There is an “IKEA Lovers Pool” on Flickr! Here is where I sat and ate the meatballs together with a Finnish blond.Click here if you want to see more IKEA photos from a Flickr colleague of mine.Extra: Table etiquette around the world!_
